Seeing smoke in a dream: what does it mean in Islam?

Seeing smoke in a dream mostly points to negative developments and a fearful state. In the classical interpretation, though, some kinds of smoke are interpreted as good that comes after fear; where the smoke comes from decides the meaning.

The symbols in your dream

• Seeing smoke: Points to negative developments and unease that will last a while.
• Smoke coming from a house or shop: Points to good and abundance coming after fear and embarrassment.
• Smoke under a pot of cooking food: Points to joy and relief after fear.
• Smoke that blinds and troubles people: It is a warning of worries and injustice.
• Black smoke: Points to an unhappy period.

In short

A smoke dream describes a process: first an unsettling situation, then, depending on the details, either hardship or relief. If the smoke rises from your home or work while food is cooking, good will come after the fear. If you saw black smoke stinging your eyes, you need to be careful and hold on to prayer.

Advice

• Seek refuge in Allah from the harm of the dream and do not tell it to anyone; it will not harm you.
• In matters that unsettle you, make calm decisions without rushing.
• Focus on the positive; every process comes to an end.

Allah knows best the truth of dreams.
