Seeing a lizard in a dream: what does it mean in Islam?

Seeing a lizard in a dream is usually interpreted in the Islamic tradition of dream interpretation as someone who carries tales and stirs discord between people, or a small trick that calls for caution. Driving the lizard away or killing it points to being protected from discord and finding peace.

The symbols in your dream

• Seeing a lizard: Points to an untrustworthy or sly person who sows division with their words.
• A green lizard: Serves as a warning against two-faced behaviour from someone who smiles to your face while speaking behind your back.
• Killing or chasing away a lizard: Interpreted as putting a stop to gossip, prevailing over a deceitful person and finding relief.
• A lizard entering the house: Points to outside talk being brought into the home or a passing misunderstanding.
• Being bitten by a lizard: Interpreted as sorrow caused by someone's unfair remark or backbiting.

In short

A lizard dream reminds you to stay alert to idle talk and to people who stir up tension while pretending to mean well. It is important right now not to believe every rumour you hear and not to let outsiders come between you and your loved ones. If the lizard fled from you or you overcame it in the dream, such talk will not be able to harm you.

Advice

• If the dream unsettled you, seek refuge in Allah from the evil of Shaytan and do not tell the dream to anyone; it will not harm you.
• Keep a healthy distance from those who bring you gossip, and verify news before acting on it.
• Avoid gatherings where backbiting takes place, and guard your own tongue.
• Make dua for peace in your home and give sadaqah for protection from harm.

Allah knows best the truth of dreams.
