Taking an exam in a dream: what does it mean in Islam?

Taking an exam in a dream is interpreted in the Islamic tradition of dream interpretation as a test faced in life, a responsibility or the wish to prove oneself. Whether the exam was easy or hard and what the result was determine the meaning.

The symbols in your dream

• Passing the exam: Overcoming a difficulty, seeing the reward of your effort.
• Not being able to answer the questions: A matter you need to prepare for, or a worry inside you.
• Being late for the exam: An opportunity you fear missing; a warning to use your time well.
• Seeing an exam from your school years: A reflection of a worry from the past; often fatigue.
• Waiting for the exam results: Waiting patiently for the outcome of a matter.

Taking an exam in a dream: other variations

• Seeing a white car in front of the house in a dream: Points to blessed developments such as exam success.
• Having labour pains in a dream: Points to happiness after effort in an exam or at work.
• Shooting an arrow and hitting the target in a dream: Points to success; missing means failure.
• Seeing yourself as a doctor in a dream: For a student, it points to reaching the field they are aiming for.
• Holding a star in your hand in a dream: Points to a bright future, a career and rising.

In short

An exam dream mostly reflects a test or responsibility in your life. If you succeeded in the dream, it points to you overcoming the difficulty you face. If you struggled, the dream reminds you to complete your preparation, leave your worry to Allah and do your best.

Advice

• If your dream was good, thank Allah and share it only with people who love you.
• If you have a real exam, prepare well and pray: "My Lord, make my task easy for me."
• If the dream unsettled you, seek refuge in Allah and do not tell it to anyone; it will not harm you.

Allah knows best the truth of dreams.
