Seeing a house in a dream: what does it mean in Islam?

Seeing a house in a dream is interpreted in the Islamic tradition of dream interpretation as a person's own world, their family and the general state of their life. Whether the house is spacious or cramped, new or old, clean or messy is like a mirror of the state of your life.

The symbols in your dream

• A spacious, bright house: Your world widening, relief and a peaceful period.
• A new, complete house: Wealth for the poor and relief for the troubled; moving into a new house means an increase in blessings.
• A cramped, old or messy house: Debt, family difficulties or matters that need to be put in order.
• Cleaning or sweeping the house: Freedom from worries and sorrow leaving.
• Building a house: Lawful worldly goods, setting up a new order in life.
• A house you don't know: In the tradition it is associated with the abode of the Hereafter; entering it and leaving it easily is interpreted as escaping a danger.

Seeing a house in a dream: other variations

• Seeing a house with a garden in a dream: Points to material and spiritual peace.
• The sun rising inside the house in a dream: Points to relief, renewal and abundance; for a married couple, a child.
• Opening the door of a beautiful house in a dream: Points to good things entering your life.
• A wall of the house collapsing in a dream: Points to someone at home, often a parent, falling ill.
• The landlord entering your home in a dream: Points to a rent rise or having to move out.
• An old house collapsing on you in a dream: Points to an inheritance from a relative.

In short

A house dream is mostly a picture of your inner world and family life. If the house in the dream gave you peace, it points to a balanced and blessed period in your life. If the house looked messy or cramped, the dream reminds you to look at your relationships with your family, your debts or the tasks you have postponed.

Advice

• If your dream was good, thank Allah and share it only with people who love you.
• Increase greetings of peace, kind words and Quran recitation in your home.
• If the dream unsettled you, seek refuge in Allah and do not tell it to anyone; it will not harm you.

Allah knows best the truth of dreams.
