I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in my dream. What does it mean?
Seeing the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in a dream is considered one of the greatest glad tidings in the Islamic tradition of dream interpretation. In an authentic hadith he said: "Whoever sees me in a dream has truly seen me, for Shaytan cannot take my form." Scholars have noted that this applies when he is seen with his known description.
The symbols in your dream
Seeing him radiant and smiling: Points to beauty in faith, attachment to the Sunnah and a good state.
Receiving something from him: Glad tidings of attaining knowledge, wisdom or a blessed gift.
Talking with him: His good words are interpreted as advice to carry into your life; however, no new religious ruling is derived from a dream.
Praying behind him: Shows that you are on the right path and following the Sunnah.
Seeing him sad: Interpreted as a reminder for the dreamer to review their own state.
Seeing the Prophet in a dream: other variations
The Prophet embracing you in a dream: Points to great support and being on the right path.
Wearing the Prophet's garment in a dream: For a leader, it points to strength; for a student of knowledge, to a high rank.
The Prophet coming to a place in hardship in a dream: Points to relief and victory for the people of that place.
Receiving knowledge or news from the Prophet in a dream: Points to following his Sunnah well.
In short
This dream is a beautiful reflection of the love in your heart and your turning toward Allah. The best response is to welcome it joyfully as glad tidings and then hold even more firmly to the Sunnah. If the words you heard in the dream agree with the known rulings of the religion, take them as advice; dreams do not bring new rulings.
