Seeing a sword in a dream: what does it mean in Islam?

Seeing a sword in a dream points to strength and success. How you encounter the sword matters, though: fighting with a sword and losing, or the sword breaking, is a warning of failure.

The symbols in your dream

• Seeing a sword: Points to gaining strength and success.
• Taking a sword in your hand: Points to having a say in a matter and being able to defend yourself.
• Fighting with a sword and winning: Points to overcoming your rivals.
• Fighting with a sword and losing: Points to an opportunity or a contest going to someone else.
• A sword breaking: It is a warning of a plan faltering; it is narrated that the Prophet saw his sword break in a dream, and hardship followed at Uhud.

In short

A sword dream is usually a strong, blessed dream; it shows that you will have means and authority in your hands. If you used the sword successfully in the dream, you will prevail in the matter you are struggling with. If the sword broke or you lost, you need to take your steps carefully and without haste.

Advice

• If your dream was good, thank Allah and share it only with people who love you.
• Use your strength with justice; strength is a trust.
• Take precautions and pray istikhara before an important struggle.

Allah knows best the truth of dreams.
